The problem

Spreadsheets work until they don't. Most budgeting apps try to do too much, burying the basics under layers of features that most people never touch. Others are so stripped down that they cannot handle the realities of a real financial life: multiple income sources, variable spending, and categories that make sense to you rather than a pre-built list.

We wanted a tool that handles the fundamentals exceptionally well. One that connects to your bank if you want it to, but works just as well with manual entry. One where you can see your spending at a glance, set budgets that actually help, and get out in under a minute.

What we believe

• 1Simplicity is a feature. Every screen should be immediately understandable. If something needs a tutorial, we have not finished designing it.
• 2Your data is yours. We do not sell it, mine it, or use it for advertising. We make money from the Pro plan, not from your information.
• 3Free should mean free. The free plan is not a trial. It includes everything most people need to track their spending and stay on budget. No time limits, no ads, no bait-and-switch.
• 4Security is non-negotiable. Handling financial data comes with responsibility. We use bank-level encryption, partner with certified providers, and default to read-only access for every bank connection.

How it is built

Steddi is a modern web application built with Next.js and hosted on Vercel. Real-time data is powered by Convex, authentication by Clerk, and bank connections by Plaid. The interface is designed to feel fast and responsive on every device, from a wide desktop monitor to a phone screen during your morning commute.

We ship updates regularly and prioritize reliability over flashy features. When we add something new, it is because our users asked for it and it makes the core experience better.
